The Kerak Motor Kart Unit is a group of Shriners who build and drive themed Go-Karts in Parades. The Kerak Motor Kart Unit was founded in 2014 and was the first new Unit founded at Kerak in a number of years. We are a performing Unit recognized by the sound of our Lawn Mower Engines.
Current go-karts included are Tin Lizzys, (miniature model T’s), Corvette’s, Monster Trucks, Van’s, Indy-cars, NASCAR’s and any other go-kart theme a member chooses to build and drive.
Parades we participate in include Carson Valley Days Parade, Reno Rodeo Parade, Virginia City and Fernley July 4th Parades, Yerington Rodeo Parade, Elko Rodeo Parade, Fallon Labor Day Parade, The Nevada Day Parade and the Sparks Hometown Christmas Parade.
If you like to drive go-karts, the Kerak Motor Kart Unit is definitely for you. In addition to driving in parades, the Kerak Motor Kart Unit works at the Circus and with Membership efforts. Our monthly meeting includes repairing, building and practicing with our go-karts.
For Shriners who would like to drive a go-kart and enjoy all the activities our unit participates in, we invite you to join us. There are always used karts for sale, or we can help you purchase a new kart from many different websites.
The Karts are individually purchased, owned and maintained by each member. Membership requires a strict adherence to General Order One by all members. The Kerak Motor Kart Unit does not require a specific uniform. We do ask the members to wear comfortable clothing that promotes Shriners or Masonry with a fez.
Our dues are $10.00 per year and you don’t have to drive a kart to be a member. We are family oriented and encourage wives, girlfriends, children, grandchildren and other family to join us in our activites.
Kerak Motor Kart Unit members consist of Law Enforcement Officers, Managers, Small Business Owners, I.T. Specialists and even University Students. All Shriners in this Unit are Master Masons.
The Kerak Motor Kart Unit supports Shriners Hospitals for Children Sacramento and Salt Lake City. Our goal is to promote the Hospital system through participation in parades.
